Elementary schools in York Region typically have a short basketball season. A season consists of approximately 3 to 4 weeks of practices. Teams will scrimmage against other schools. The big event is a large tournament between schools in the region. Below are the Catholic School District and York Region Public School District schools. These are schools in the same area, so they will likely be pooled together into one tournament. Winner of this tournament can carry on, to further compete against other districts.
Basketball players in York Region who want to have a longer basketball season will typically join a rep team. There are rep teams in maple, Thornhill, Richmond hill, Vaughan, and many other cities. Many of these Club organizations run year round practices, tournaments, and games. While playing for your local school is a great option, it is a very short season. Players often consider playing rep Level Sports in order to enjoy a longer basketball season.
